Last year I planted a Plum Pudding Heuchera. Each time I stepped off the back porch the first thing I could see was the singed leaves of this plant. Disturbing. I suspected it needed more shade, but I gave it a year to slough off the "transplant trauma" excuse. Yesterday I determined that it truly needed a more sheltered spot. I divided the plant into five smaller ones and scattered them about to more promising locations. What you see above is one fifth of that heuchera, complete with singed leaf. This one I placed near my Helleborus Royal Strains. The combination is easy on my eyes. I hope the Heuchera grows quickly to fill in its new space. Immaturity is a recurring theme in this young garden, but I can be patient. The Helleborus is the first of my perennials to bloom each year. I first discovered it 12 years ago when I spent a week-end with Emily for "Mom's Week-end" at St. Mary's in South Bend. And so I have two reasons to love it, don't I?
Well, it's survived a long time hasn't it? That was such a fun weekend. You will have to update us with a photo of each in their new locations.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us who are not good at flowers, if you could indicated "Helloborus RIGHT" / Heuchera LEFT" I will follow better! I think the Helloborus is on the left because it looks like it is blooming? One of my new plants is showing the beginnings of an orange blossom on my patio. Very exciting.
